Summer In Studio Junior Camp:

Hussian College Los Angeles presents a collaborative camp experience designed to engage students, ages 8 - 12, in the creative process from the ground up. Taking place on a real-live working movie studio lot, this one-week creative exploration leads students through the process of creating an original short film with guidance from HCLA faculty, alumni instructors, and student staff. Featuring classes in acting, music, dance, stage combat, and filmmaking, students learn to contextualize technique in story and give shape to narrative through production. Camp culminates with the screening of a an original, student-conceived, student-produced short film.

All students will rotate through a series of courses including:
    • Acting
    • Dance
    • Singing/Songwriting
    • Stage Combat
    • Improvisation
    • Filmmaking
    • Collaboration Lab (through which they will produce an original short film)

How do I register for camp?

Our registration is all online and you can pre-register here! Participants sign up for full weeks of camp (Monday-Friday). We are offering 3 weeks of camp this summer and you can sign up for 1, 2, or all 3 sessions.

We HIGHLY recommend signing up for consecutive weeks as going to camp is a lot like starting a new school – and we have found that multiple consistent weeks are more likely to result in happy, comfortable and productive kids.

After saving your spot through the pre-register process, you will recieve an email from Camp Vine. This is where the rest of your information will be collected including guardian names, who can pick up your child from camp, allergy information, etc.

What are the Camp hours?

Drop off for Summer in Studio is open from 8am to 9:15am. Sessions run from 9:15am to 4pm, Monday to Friday. Late pick up is offered from 4pm-6pm for an additional $25 per day.

How will participants be grouped together?

Participants will be assigned to a group of up to 19 other participants of the same age range along with a faculty member and 2 counselors. Maintaining a small group size ensures that participants will be more likely to make connections with other kids and their counselors will get to know them better!

What if my child doesn’t know anyone?

Camp is a great place to make new friends! The majority of our participants come to their first session not knowing anyone. Summer In Studio is a fantastic place where your child will be exposed to other creative children with whom they can bond and make lifelong friendships.

What should my camper bring each day?

Please send your camper with a snack, lunch, and water bottle.

Can I visit camp?

While we don’t allow visitors during camp hours, we recommend coming to take a private tour BEFORE the sessions start. Please email SummerInStudio@hussiancollege.edu to schedule a private tour of our dance studios, classrooms etc.

What happens if my child gets sick or hurt?

We know its hard to miss camp, but please keep your child at home if they have a cough, sore throat, have had a fever in the last 24 hours, or if they are just generally not feeling well. Staying at home and resting is the fastest way to get your camper back on their feet!

At Summer In Studio, you will receive a call if your child is complaining about not feeling well and we will come up with the best plan of action together. If your child has a headache, fever, runny nose, diarrhea, rash, is unusually tired, or has thrown up, they will have to be picked up.

Our staff are trained in first aid, CPR and general wellness care for camp. If an incident occurs that results in an unusual bump or cut or the situation requires more than just a band aid, we will call home right away.

How much does camp cost?

  • The cost of attendance for each Junior session is $850.
  • The cost of attendance for each Senior session is $975.

What is the Refund Policy?
