Musical theatre is one of the most competitive and rapidly developing industries in the performing arts. Our Contemporary Musical Theatre + Film program paves an entrepreneurial path to success by combining comprehensive training in acting, voice, musicianship, dance, performance, and entertainment industry practices. Students train in both live and recorded media, preparing them for a professional career in film and television as well as theatre.

Our general education sequence includes courses in arts, humanities, science, communication and entrepreneurship. Students learn to explore diverse perspectives, express sophisticated ideas, assess information critically, and communicate effectively. We challenge everyone to be innovators and thought leaders while preparing for a professional career in arts and entertainment.

Collaboration is an integral part of the Hussian College LA Campus culture. Musical theatre students regularly work with peers from other disciplines, empowering performers to enter the entertainment industry as exceptional team members and team leaders. Los Angeles offers extraordinary opportunities in film, television, commercial and voiceover work. The CMTF program features its own movie musical class, and all students are able to collaborate on various academic and extracurricular film projects. Advanced courses in camera technique and auditioning (theatre, film, television, commercials, and voiceover) position our students for a diversified entertainment career both on stage and on screen. In addition to course projects, students can audition for annually programmed productions and even propose their own self-produced project.

In the Contemporary Musical Theatre + Film program at Hussian College, we create true triple threats who have the skills necessary to thrive in theatre, film and television as independent innovators of art.

All the best performers bring to their role something more, something different than what the author put on paper. That’s what makes theatre live. That’s why it persists. —Stephen Sondheim
